Report: “Skill Development Among the Youth”

The Department of Economics, Jagannath Barooah University, organized a Talk Program on “Skill Development Among the Youth” on 31st October 2025 at the New Conference Hall in hybrid mode.
The program was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Jyoti Prasad Saikia, who delivered an insightful inaugural address emphasizing the importance of skill development for enhancing employability and highlighted various recent government initiatives in this regard.
The resource person, Mr. Manoj Kumar Das, Professor of Practice at Birangana Sati Sadhani Rajyik Vishwavidyalaya and Former Director of the Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship, Guwahati, delivered a thought-provoking and comprehensive lecture on the multidimensional aspects of skill development. He particularly emphasized the significance of agriculture and allied sectors as key avenues for sustainable income generation and self-employment opportunities.
The session began with a welcome address by Dr. Ashrafuzzaman Chowdhury, Associate Professor & Head of the Department, and concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Ronjit Khanikar, Assistant Professor of the Department. All faculty members attended the program, and 70 students participated both online and offline. The event was conducted smoothly and proved to be highly enriching and informative for the participants.
