The Department of Zoology, Jagannath Barooah University, organized a three-day educational field visit to Manas National Park beginning on 07-03-2026 for the 4th Semester Major students. A total of 30 students participated in the excursion under the guidance of teachers-in-charge, Ms. Rupamoni Das Hazarika and Dr. Rashmi Rekha Saikia.
The field visit aimed to provide students with practical exposure to wildlife diversity, habitat ecology and conservation practices in one of India’s renowned biodiversity hotspots. During the visit, the students observed a wide variety of wildlife species and birds in their natural habitats. Notable sightings included one-horned rhinoceros, bison, elephant, wild pig, capped langur, sambar, wild buffalo and several species of birds, including a large number of peacocks.
The trip proved to be highly informative and enriching for the students, enhancing their understanding of wildlife conservation and ecological studies through direct field experience. The Department expresses its gratitude to the authorities and staff of Manas National Park for their cooperation and support during the visit.
