Jagannath Barooah University, Jorhat, organized an Induction Programme for the newly admitted UG and PG students on 18th August 2025 with great enthusiasm and purpose. The programme aimed at familiarizing the freshers with the academic environment, values, and vision of the University.

The session was graced by the Honourable Vice Chancellor, Prof. Jyoti Prasad Saikia, who in his inaugural address highlighted the fundamental aspects of the New Education Policy (NEP). He emphasized the importance of cognitive skills, societal values, creative and critical thinking, and underlined that education should focus more on self-thinking, true knowledge, and skill development rather than being merely examination or marks-oriented. His words inspired the young students to develop themselves as responsible and innovative citizens.

The programme was anchored by Mr. Subhasish Sarmah, Director of Students’ Affairs, who in his brief address urged the students to practice free and open thinking and contribute towards making the University a true centre of open thought and intellectual exchange. He also delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all the dignitaries, faculty members, and students present.

The Induction Programme proved to be a meaningful beginning for the freshers, setting a positive tone for their academic journey at Jagannath Barooah University.
