Teachers of Jagannath Barooah University showcased remarkable excellence at the 38th Jorhat Teachers’ Meet, held on 24th and 25th January, hosted by the HRH Prince of Wales Institute of Engineering and Technology (POWIET), Jorhat. The university team participated enthusiastically in various athletic, cultural, and team events and secured several trophies, bringing pride and honour to the institution.

Athletic Achievements

In the 50 Metre Race below 40 years age category for men, Abhilash Borthakur secured the first position. In the same category for women, Purbali Goswami secured the first position. In the 50 Metre Race above 40 years age category for women, Dr. Papumoni Hazarika secured the first position.

Cultural Competitions

In Antakshri competition, Akash Dipta Thakur, Dr. Champak Deka and Dr. Pushpanjali Hazarika secured the first position. In the Eloquence competition, Akash Dipta Thakur secured the first position. In the Chorus competition, the university team secured the third position. The team members were Digbijay Das, Dr. Champak Deka, Dr. Ankur Gogoi, Ashis Kashyap, Pratyashi Baruah, Queen Sonowal, Dr. Mrittika Das, Monmi Borthakur, Manashi Changmai and Sujata Boruah.

Team Events

In the March Past Competition, the university team secured the second position. The team was led by Abhilash Borthakur as Contingent Commander. The team members were Digbijay Das, Parash Kumar Rajak, Anirban Garg, Ashis Kashyap, Sandeep Sankar Regan, Rinku Dey, Gaurangajit Borah, Banashree Saikia, Purbali Goswami, Papumoni Hazarika, Pushpanjali Hazarika, Monmi Borthakur, Sital Newar, Pratyashi Baruah, Shehnaz Sultana, Parinita Bhuya, Tashmi Konwar, Kakoli Chutia, Dorothy Saikia, Silpi Sikha Konwar, Sanju Kakoty and Sujata Baruah.

In the Volleyball event, the university team emerged as runners-up. The team members were Sandeep Sankar Regan(Captain), Digbijay Das, Gaurangajit Borah, Dr. Champak Deka, Sarat Konwar, Dr. Chaitradhar Taye and Dr. Pranab Jyoti Saikia.

In Badminton Doubles (Men), Digbijay Das and Anirban Garg secured the second position.

Culinary Competitions

In the Salad Preparation competition, Abishruti Bora secured the second position. In the Chutney Preparation competition, Abishruti Bora secured the third position.

The outstanding performance of the teachers reflects their spirit of teamwork, discipline and excellence beyond academics. The participants were warmly congratulated by Prof. Jyoti Prasad Saikia, Vice ChancellorDr. Utpal Jyoti Mahanta, RegistrarMr. Subhasish Sarmah, President of the Teachers’ Unit, and Dr. Kalyan Das, Secretary of the Teachers’ Unit, for their commendable achievements and dedicated representation of the university.
