The Department of Chemistry organized a CHEMTALK 1.0 on 15/09/2025 in the seminar hall (new) Jagannath Barooah University. The resource person for the talk was Dr. Parikshit Gogoi ,Assistant professor ,Nagaon University, who delivered some interesting views on the topic “EMERGING TRENDS IN CHEMISTRY RESEARCH,SCOPE AND OPPORTUNITIES.” The talk was started with a welcoming speech by Dr. Jayashree Nath which was followed by Dr. Gitashree Darabdhara who gave a short briefing on the academic background and the achievements achieved by Dr. Parikshit Gogoi. With this, Dr. Utpal Jyoti Mahanta (Registrar) of Jagannath Barooah University gave some valuable thoughts to the students about the upcoming challenges in life and how to tackle them. All the faculty members and students were eager to hear some resourceful talks from Dr. Parikshit Gogoi.
The talk mainly focused on the different fellowships that a UG, PG, and PhD student can apply to have a strong academic career. Some of them were Indian National Science Academy (INSA) fellowships, Marie Curie fellowships, DAAD fellowships, and many more. Coming to his academic career, he holds an MSc degree in Chemistry from Cotton University, Guwahati, an MTech degree in Petroleum Refining and Petrochemicals from Dibrugarh University, and a PhD degree in Chemical Engineering from CSIR-NEIST, Jorhat. Before joining Nagaon University he worked as a technical staff in the Chemistry Department at IIT Guwahati. Parikshit sir received the INSA Summer Research fellowship, Bengaluru, Raman fellowship for Post Doctoral Research at Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta where he made significant contributions to biomass, he was also awarded the 2023 Fulbright Nehru Academic and Professional Excellence Fellowship


to conduct research at the University of Illinois – Urban Campaign.
Through the talk he discussed his research areas, which were biomass-based chemicals, fuels and materials, and natural products chemistry. The talk ended with a valuable speech by our HOD, Mrs. Akhtara Hussain Kalita. At last, a small refreshment was arranged for the students in the department.
