The University observed Armed Forces Flag Day on 7th December 2025 through a joint initiative of the Department of Political Science and the NCC Unit of the University, with active participation of NCC cadets and students. The programme was organised to honour the bravery, sacrifices and selfless service of the personnel of the Indian Armed Forces and to promote a sense of patriotism and national responsibility among students.The celebration witnessed enthusiastic participation by NCC cadets, who rendered patriotic group songs and delivered speeches highlighting the significance of Armed Forces Flag Day. Cadets Ullah Pratim Bora, Gautam Bora and Bedabrat Bhagwati addressed the gathering and spoke eloquently on the role of the Armed Forces in safeguarding the sovereignty and integrity of the nation.A major highlight of the programme was the rendering of three patriotic group songs by different teams of cadets.

  • Team A comprised Rajjak Hussain, Biswa Jyoti Narah, Bastav Boruah, Nayan Milan Saikia, Ullah Pratima Bora, Bhaskar Jyoti Mili and Rahul Das.
  • Team B included Debasish Bora, Raktim Gogoi, Dhruba Jyoti Das, Arup Das, Dipak Boruah, Bikash Mili and Nilu Pegu.
  • Team C consisted of Debasish Buragohain, Gautam Bora, Bedabrat Bhagwati, Akash Jyoti Hazarika, Ankur Das and Siraj Ali.

Their performances created a deeply patriotic atmosphere and were appreciated by all present.Capt. Sandeep Sankar Regan, ANO, addressed the gathering and spoke on the relevance of Armed Forces Flag Day, emphasising the importance of remembering the sacrifices made by soldiers and extending collective support to veterans and their families. He also motivated students to imbibe the values of discipline, service and national commitment.As part of the observance, funds were raised through the sale of Armed Forces flags, and it was informed that the collected amount would be transferred to the Directorate of Sainik Welfare, contributing to the welfare of ex-servicemen and their dependents.The programme concluded with words of appreciation from the Registrar, Dr. Utpal Jyoti Mahanta, who lauded the initiative taken by the Department of Political Science and the NCC Unit and commended the cadets and students for their enthusiastic participation and disciplined conduct.The celebration successfully reinforced the spirit of patriotism and solidarity with the Armed Forces among the university community.
