Jagannath Barooah University accorded a heartfelt farewell felicitation to Dr. Jolly Borthakur, former Head of the Department of Political Science, on February 14, 2026. The programme was organized by the University Teachers’ Unit in recognition of her long and distinguished service to the institution. Dr. Borthakur formally retired from her teaching career on January 31, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of academic excellence and dedicated service.

The farewell programme was held under the chairmanship of Mr. Subhashish Sharma, President of the Teachers’ Unit. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Borthakur fondly reminisced about her years in academia and expressed heartfelt gratitude to her colleagues, students, and the university community for their unwavering support and cooperation throughout her career.

Several faculty members shared their experiences and memories of working closely with Dr. Borthakur, highlighting her significant academic and co-curricular contributions, as well as her inspiring personality and commitment to students. Those who spoke on the occasion included retired Mrs Jyoti Kotoky(Retired Faculty), Mrs. Rupamani Das, Dr. Sankar Kumar Das, Mrs. Santana Dutta, Mrs. Swamim Nasrin, Dr. Deepanjali Baruah, Mr. Pankaj Goswami, and Mr. Sandeep Sankar Regan on behalf of the Department of Political Science.

The programme was gracefully anchored by Dr. Kalyan Das, Secretary of the Teachers’ Unit, who also conveyed a formal vote of thanks, appreciating the presence and participation of all attendees. On the same occasion, members of the newly elected Students’ Union also felicitated Dr. Borthakur as a token of respect and appreciation for her invaluable contribution to the university.
