In his lecture, Dr. Bora explained the concept of Generation Z and highlighted how their lifestyle, social environment, and digital exposure significantly differ from previous generations. He pointed out that while Gen Z is technologically advanced and highly adaptive, they are also more susceptible to stress, anxiety, and emotional instability due to intense academic competition, social pressures, and the fast-paced digital world.
Dr. Bora elaborated on the impact of excessive screen time and the culture of constant comparison fostered by social media platforms. He stressed the importance of maintaining a balanced routine, engaging in regular physical activity, fostering open communication, and seeking timely professional support when necessary. He also discussed the early warning signs of mental distress and encouraged students to remove the stigma associated with seeking professional psychological help.
The session included an interactive question-and-answer segment, during which students raised thoughtful queries related to stress management and coping strategies. Dr. Bora responded with practical and evidence-based suggestions, making the discussion highly engaging and beneficial for the participants.
The programme successfully underscored the importance of mental health awareness and promoted a supportive and stigma-free approach toward psychological well-being. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Gitashree Darabdhara, followed by a group photograph.
