History of the Department
The department of Assamese was established in 1930and erstwhile it started with Assamese major and MIL. In 2016, the department introduced Post Gradute course in Assamese. The department also introduced PhD programme in 2022 and at present there are four numbers of PhD supervisors from the department. Presently, Choice Base Credit System (CBCS) is continuing in the department which was introduced in 2016.
