The Fraternity Meet 2.0 (Soubhratra Milan 2.0) of the Department of Geology, Jagannath Barooah University, was held on December 21, 2024, at Guna Govinda Dutta Auditorium. The day commenced with alumni registration, followed by the official inauguration of Soubhratra Milan 2.0.
The atmosphere was set with a spirited performance of the college song by the students of the Geology Department, adding an energetic start to the programme. The Organising Secretary then delivered a warm and inviting welcome speech, formally introducing the event. This was followed by the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, a tradition symbolizing wisdom and unity. With the distinguished guests in attendance, the students presented a Guru Seva Vandana, paying tribute to their mentors and adding a spiritual touch to the occasion.
The event was graced by four esteemed former professors—S. K. Bhagaboti, Deepa Bora, Rajib Sarma, and Nurul Amin, who have been pillars of strength for the department. Mr. Sarat Bora, laboratory personal of the department was also present. They shared insights from their academic and professional journeys, reflecting on their time at the institute and offering valuable advice to both alumni and current students.
A special reminiscence session was then held, where prominent alumni shared stories from their student days—some humorous, some insightful, and all deeply nostalgic. Their experiences, ranging from academic challenges to lifelong friendships, resonated with the current students, offering them a glimpse into the journey that lay ahead.
Later, a discussion took place on geological advancements, industry trends, and career opportunities. Alumni shared their professional experiences, providing students with valuable guidance and inspiration for their future endeavours.
The event concluded with a cultural programme, where both students and alumni participated. The highlight was a group Bihu dance, bringing everyone together in a vibrant celebration of tradition and unity.
