As part of its student internship and community service initiative, the Department of Zoology at Jagannath Barooah University, Jorhat, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Office of the Joint Director of Health Services, Jorhat, on October 15, 2025.
The MoU was formally signed by Dr. Utpal Jyoti Mahanta, Registrar of the University, and Dr. Dilip Kumar Deva Sarmah, Joint Director of Health Services and Member Secretary of the District Health Society, Jorhat.
The agreement will remain in effect for a period of five years. Present as witnesses to the signing were:

- Dr. Dhiramani Bhuyan, Head of the Department of Zoology
- Dr. Bhaktimay Bhattacharyya, Additional CM&HO (PH), cum DTO-NTEP & DNO-NTCP, Jorhat
- Dr. Upangana Bhagabati, Medical and Health Officer-I, DTCC, Jorhat
The MoU signing ceremony was held in the office of the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Jyoti Prasad Rajkhowa, who personally oversaw the proceedings and congratulated the department for its proactive initiative. All faculty members of the Zoology Department were also present on the occasion.
